I was born on the 7th January 2001 which was Captains Drive in Day at Calcot Park Golf Club (where I am now a member), that year it was Ron Sully who was the captain who is a good friend of my Nanny Alice, Grandad Andrew and My Dad. Maybe this was omen for me ending playing golf so much!!
I started playing golf when I was about 2 years old and by 3 I had started to play on the course. In the early days I went over to Downshire Municipal Golf Course in Bracknell on the pitch and putt although Dad let me play on the bigger course there when I was 4. I had my first hole in one when I was 4 on the 14th hole there on the big course - it was during the winter on the tempory green so I could reach it with my driver! I got presented with a trophy back at Calcot Park by the president and family friend John Morris and this is the picture in the top left of my Website. I got spotted playing at Downshire and was asked to go along to a junior academy in Woking but this didn't last too long as the head of the academy left.
After getting permission I started practicing and playing more at Calcot eventually meeting special criteria to become a Junior Member. I had my first proper golf lessons from Mark Grieve the pro at Calcot who along with his wife Carol made me really welcome in the pro-shop. I also got to know a lot of the members and there are some really nice people there who always ask how I'm doing.
My Grandad lives in St Andrews and I really love going up there, we have lots of friends there including Andy from St Andrews Golf Club and Charlie from the New Club who also like to know what I'm up to. Charlie has promised me and my best friend on the British Junior Golf Tour Xavier a round on the old course when we get our handicaps down to 24!! Dad and Grandad are members in St Andrews Golf Club.
I started playing in competitions when I was 5 for more info on this see the Junior Golf Section but I must mention the British Junior Golf Tour which is run by Steve and Sherry Adams. I have loads of friends on the tour and I was really proud to win their Player of Summer Series in 2008. Steve and Sherry do a great job with the tour which gives children a chance to experience a series of tournaments which has a true European Tour like feel, I absolutely love playing on the tour!
Last year I attended a coaching day run by the Berks Bucks and Oxon County Golf Union where I became their youngest ever coaching squad member. As part of this we met Rob Watts who is one of the county coaches. I have been seeing Rob for lessons since joining the coaching squad which is cool as he also coaches some players on the proper European Tour.
Following winning the Player of the Season award I have been really lucky to be part of The tour's represetative team and have been along to the Belfry to meet some the European Tour players and also be part of the team who appeared on stage at the NEC Golf Show.
Looking forward to this year I have certain goals for my competitions but I just really want to keep enjoying myself playing golf and football, I was really ill (see the HSP section) last year so appreciate even more how lucky I am to have the opportunity to do what I love.
My blog will continue the story, where it will end.....who knows!!!
